GOOD NEWS FROM THE NEW YORK STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT/ NEW YORK STATE LIBRARY!

The Edmeston Free Library has received notification that we will receive the requested 75% of funding needed for the last phase of the library construction aid!  With this year’s approved NYS Library Construction Aid as well as the generous support of private grant donors and individual donors, the library plans to move to its new location by the end of this year.  The barn will be renovated next year while the library is in operation.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Four County Library System, private donors and our wonderful community for the continued support we have received during this renovation project started in 2017. The new library building will be more accessible and energy efficient. We will be able to offer updated technology and more community programs and services.

For a full list of private donors, click on “NEW LIBRARY & COMMUNITY CENTER” tab above.

THANK YOU!!!

I have three great summer reads for you. The first, This Summer Will be Different by Carley Fortune, is a slow burn romance. It follows Lucy and Felix over five years as they try to decide on their future. The problem that keeps coming up is that Lucy’s best friend is Felix’s sister, and she has forbidden them to date! The second book, One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware, is a perfect summer mystery. The plot follows five couples on a reality tv show filmed on a remote island. As you can imagine, people start dying one by one. Can any of them survive before they are rescued? And the last book, Jackpot Summer by Elyssa Friedland, just might be one of my favorite books of the year. It follows four siblings, whose mother passed away, and they are helping dad clean out their Jersey shore home before dad moves to Florida. One night three of the siblings decide to play the New Jersey lottery while the fourth sibling states it’s a waste of money. Well, they hit the jackpot. One sibling is left out, are the other siblings happy with their new money, and can they get their family back together again? This book was a really enjoyable read on how a family loves, fights, and makes up. Happy Reading!
