Prevention of fires and fire safety is important. In recognition of Fire Prevention month, the Edmeston Free Library Board, staff and volunteers would like to thank the members of the Fire Department, Emergency Squad and Fire Auxiliary for their dedicated time and service they give unselfishly to the community.

Also, we would like to give a special thank you to Brian Ward of Wards Off Fire for his many years of service inspecting the Library fire extinguishers.

A Tribute to Leon Schworm

A Tribute to Leon Schworm

A Tribute to Leon Schworm

The Edmeston Free Library staff and Board of Trustees honor the memory of our colleague and friend Leon Schworm. Leon was an EFL Board member for 27 years; he served as the Board Secretary and Treasurer for a number of those years. Leon was also the Edmeston Museum Director and Edmeston Town Historian from 2009 through 2017.

During his time on the library board, Leon was instrumental in the library’s fundraising events, including annual chicken and biscuit dinners and winter festivals. His fine cooking skills combined with his willingness to roll up his sleeves and work alongside the other Board members helped make these events both fun and successful.

Leon’s longtime service to the community was invaluable. His knowledge of local history and residents and his dedication to the library and museum will be greatly missed.

Automation!

Automation!

The Edmeston Free Library is working to become fully automated this year. Patrons will have access to the great resources of the Four County Library System (4CLS) including 1.5 million resources and many other materials. Furthermore, each member of the Edmeston Free Library will have the ability to use their card at any of the other 4CLS libraries. Patrons will be able to reserve items online through the Edmeston Free Library or any of the participating 4CLS automated libraries. In order to become part of this system, our library needs to catalog our current inventory. We will begin cataloging in May 2018. If you would like to help us with our automation process please click here and send us a message!
