Our in-library family activity for this month is a Gnome Hunt! Wander the library in search of our cute little paper gnomes. Find the right amount and win a prize! Be sure to keep your eyes open though. Some of them like to be tricky!

Library Plant Sale

Calling all gardeners! The library’s plant sale is coming: Saturday, May 29th, 10am-3pm .
 
Do you have any plants you’d like to donate?
If Yes:
1. Please let the front desk know you would like to donate plants.
2. Leave your name/email/phone number.
3. The, drop your labeled plants off at the library on Friday, May 28th, during open hours (11am-5pm)
 
Other gardening-related items welcomed: Cut flowers in vases, small ornaments, decorative pots, gardening related books. (Please, no large equipment.)

The Library will provide you, patron chefs, with 3 mystery food items! Incorporate all of these items into a creative appetizer, entree, or dessert and you could earn the title of FPL Chopped Challenge!

You ‘ll be judged on creativity and appeal of presentation. No taste test this time! There will be two winners. One for creativity and one for presentation.

Our Summer Reading kickoff begins May 1st with the whimsical, “Tails and Tales” theme! We have information available for how to obtain merit badges for each of our three monthly themes that fall under the “Tails and Tales” umbrella. There will be a badge for Fairy Tales (May), Animal Stories (June), and Campfire Tales (July)! Each participant will receive a tote bag to attach the badges to once earned (if they’d like) and their choice of a new book! The new theme information will be released on Facebook at the beginning of each respective month during summer reading.

Adopt a Book!

The Adopt-a-book program makes it easy for you to help build the Library’s collection! Whether it is in memoriam or a tribute to a birthday, anniversary, or other special day, your donation enable us to add books that enrich lives to our collection. Adopt a book in honor of someone special-don’t forget that you are special too!

If you adopt a book, we will:

  • acknowledge your donation with a bookplate
  • honor or memorialize a loved one with a bookplate
  • You will be the first to read it, even if the book has a waiting list!
  • Receive a receipt for your tax deductible donation

How to adopt a book:

Fill out an adoption form at the Circulation Desk or, once you have selected the book you’d like to adopt from this linkhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/16lX4hMb639h6ygREBLBNniPFF1uTKZeDup_VkZKNt-E/edit?usp=sharing , send an email to the director (director@fairviewlibrary.org) giving us the following information:

  • Name of person adopting
  • Title of the Adopted Book
  • If a memorial adoption, name of the person(s) for the “In Memory” bookplate
  • If an “In Honor” adoption, name of the person(s) fo rthe “In honor of” bookplate
  • Address for us to send the acknowledgement, if desired
  • Mail or bring in your payment of $15 for children’s books, or $20 for adult books. We accept cash, check, money order, or PayPal through our website.
  • The selected book will be processed into the collection as soon as it is available, with a personalized bookplate affixed.

Virtual Crafts and More

Hello, Fairview Friends! We are continuing virtual programming for children with a to-go craft (pick up at the library to follow along with virtually via Facebook Live) every other weekend, and a preschool story time on the opposite weekends. For the rest of this month the virtual programming runs as follows:

4/10/2021: Preschool Story Time at 9:30 am

4/17/2021: To-go Kids Craft-Painted Garden Rocks 9:30 am

4/24/2021: Preschool Story Time at 9:30 am

Library Stacks Treasure Hunt!

Avast, hearties!!! Fairview Library is running a month-long during open hours (through April 3rd) Treasure Hunt in our stacks. There is an adult version and a children/Family version. Information, answer sheets, and first clues are all on the bulletin board in our entryway. Pens and pencils are available at the circulation desk. Each person who participates and completes their answer sheet will find treasure (win a prize) at the end!

Biweekly Kids Story time

Join Miss Cherie for a kids story time tomorrow (Saturday 2/13) at 9:30 am on Facebook Live. We will be reading the books in the photo above.
