New Berlin Library Board Meeting Minutes
April 29, 2026

Abby Magrath called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Jill Robinson seconded it. Motion carries 3-0.
Jill Robinson made a motion to approve the minutes from the January board meeting. Donna Wells seconded the motion. Motion carries 3-0.
Jill Robinson made a motion to approve the February, March, and April bills. Abby Magrath seconded the motion. Motion carries 3-0.
Treasurer’s Report:
Donna Wells handed out the treasurer’s report. No issues were found. Jill Robinson made a motion to pass the report. Abby Magrath seconded the motion. Motion carries 3-0.
Donna Wells made a motion to terminate services by Paul Rowe. Abby Magrath seconded the motion. Motion carries 3-0.
Director’s Report:
Michelle informed the board that the play-aways have been donated to Pathfinder.
The egg hunt on March 28 brought in 37 children plus their families. An adult art class was held on 3/23. An art class at Chase Nursing Home was held on 3/25. Chase Outreach History of the New Berlin Library was held on 4/22. The Mother’s Day art class will be on 5/4 and the Chase art class will be held on 5/13.
The annual report due date was 4/16/26. Michelle completed the report on 4/3/26. Abby Magrath made the motion to accept the report. Jill Robinson seconded the motion. Motion carries 3-0.
The Art Forum approached the library about sponsoring the summer program which will be dinosaur themed. Michelle requested $540 to offset the increase for payroll. We have received $1,000 from the Community Foundation of SCNY. The village will not have a summer program this year. UVCSD has given us final verification for the summer feeding program. The program will run July 27-August 13, Monday-Thursday, 9:00-12:30. Breakfast will be 9:00-9:30 and lunch will be 12:00-12:30.
Due to construction at the park, the Perkins Summer Series will take place in the community room of the library. Rearranging of the furniture is currently taking place.

August 26- Dan the Snake Man; Animal Experience $500
Painting of the library exterior is scheduled for June. The village has been notified of the programming dates.
The piano was tuned and issues were found. Jill Robinson made the motion to discard the piano. Abby Magrath seconded it. Motion carries 3-0.
Michelle will bring a book cart to Chase Nursing Home with large print books and book CDs. The materials will be changed out monthly. There will be 30-40 items at a time. A sign out list will be maintained. Residents will have the option to enroll with a library card.
The disaster preparedness plan was updated. Jill Robinson made a motion to accept the updates. Donna Wells seconded the motion. Motion carries 3-0.
The collection development was updated. Donna Wells made a motion to accept the updates. Jill Robinson seconded. Motion carries 3-0.
The library will be participating in the New Berlin Village Crawl on May 23 from 10:00-5:00.
