The New Berlin Library was held the first Ezra Jack Keats Foundation sponsored children’s art classes. Children were taught about painting cats on canvas in acrylic paint. First the instructor taught the children about the proper placement of a cat’s facial features in proportion to the cat’s head. The children drew with graphite on the canvas and then used acrylic paints to complete their projects.

The next Ezra Jack Keats Foundation sponsored children’s art class will take place on Wednesday, July 14. Donna Wells will be leading a class on the watercolor painting. The art classes take place on Wednesdays in July starting at 3:30 in the community room.

The remaining art classes will include: watercolor painting, air dry clay and colored pencil drawing. All art supplies will be provided but smocks from home are encouraged. For more information and to sign up for the classes call the library 607.847.8564. As a reminder all vaccinated individuals will be required to wear face covering during this event.
