The New Berlin Library was awarded an Ezra Jack Keats Foundation Grant to hold a series of children’s art classes. The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation “fosters children’s love of reading and creative expression by supporting arts and literacy programs in public schools and libraries; cultivating new writers and illustrators of exceptional picture books that reflect the experience of childhood in our diverse culture; and protecting and promoting the work of Keats, the preeminent author-illustrator whose book The Snowy Day broke the color barrier in mainstream children’s publishing.” These art classes will take place on Wednesdays in July starting at 3:30 in the community room.The art classes will include: air dry clay, water color, acrylics and colored pencil drawing. All art supplies will be provided but smocks from home are encouraged. For more information and to sign up for the classes call the library 607.847.8564.
