Did you know that the Village of Lisle was the site of the first vote by a woman in New York State? After women were granted the privilege of the ballot in November 1917 by the New York State Legislator, the “Ladies of Lisle” jumped at the chance to exercise their newly granted right at a option election held on January 5th, 1918, which would determine if alcohol could be sold legally in the Township of Lisle.
Please join us on Saturday, October 21st from 1-4pm as we celebrate the 100 year anniversary of this historical event!
There will family friendly games and activities all afternoon. Come meet “Elizabeth Cady Stanton”! Learn all about the events surrounding those first women who cast their votes with a presentation by Town Historian, Eleanor Ticknor, followed by a cake and punch reception.
