{"id":2448,"date":"2025-09-24T23:24:43","date_gmt":"2025-09-24T23:24:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/libraries.4cls.org\/newberlin\/?p=2448"},"modified":"2025-09-24T23:24:43","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T23:24:43","slug":"lost-and-abandoned-property-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libraries.4cls.org\/newberlin\/index.php\/2025\/09\/24\/lost-and-abandoned-property-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Lost and Abandoned Property Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lost and Abandoned Property Policy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of this policy is to set library protocol for handling lost and abandoned property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This policy provides direction to employees for the proper safeguards and disposal of items found by New Berlin Library employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Policy: Library visitors shall not leave personal property&nbsp;unattended&nbsp;in the library. Library staff will use discretion as to removal and\/or storage of personal property&nbsp;left unattended for more 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lost or abandoned items are found on library property. Lost or abandoned property include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lost property \u2013 property belonging to another person, such as clothing, keys, identification cards, books, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Abandoned property \u2013 property left behind or discarded by a person, such as clothing, books, office supplies, household items, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unwanted or unsolicited donations will be considered abandoned property.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Procedures: Lost or abandoned property found in and around the library will be managed by the library staff.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identifiable items such as cell phones, keys, wallets, etc. will be attempted to be identified and returned to the owner or turned over to local police.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All other items, such as household items, backpacks, personal care items, clothing, etc.\u00a0 will be held until the end of the business day and then discarded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Item can be held longer at the request of the owner but will not be held longer than 7 days.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Approved 9\/24\/2025<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lost and Abandoned Property Policy The purpose of this policy is to set library protocol for handling lost and abandoned property.
