The New Berlin Library hosted a Valentine’s Day concert on Wednesday, February 12 at 5 pm. The concert was sponsored by the New Berlin Art Forum and featured the popular Elvis Tribute Artist, Aric McKown.

Aric McKown has been performing as an Elvis tribute artist for years and it is apparent to anyone watching him that Aric really enjoys performing. As an Elvis tribute artist, Aric sings in his natural voice while reproducing the sound and style of Elvis Presley.  Aric also dresses in iconic Elvis Presley inspired costumes. He arrived on stage wearing a black jumpsuit adorned with clear rhinestone and a large silver belt.

In between songs Aric interacted with the audience and answered questions.  Concert goer Linda Benson Reese, conducted an impromptu interview in between songs in which Aric McKown shared a little about his life and his work as an Elvis tribute artist.  Aric uses pre-recorded music in his performance and he explained,

“When I first started [performing], we used CDs or downloads from the internet . . . you have to find the timing and got to make it sound as close to the original as possible. That is the work, the work happens in rehearsal. It doesn’t happen here.  I’m having fun tonight.”

The concert featured a mix of popular Elvis’s rock and roll songs as well as less known gospel songs, and songs by other artists.   There were opportunities for requests and the concert extended slightly beyond its schedules one hour run time.
