Christmas Party at the New Berlin Library
The New Berlin Library held its Annual Holiday Party on Saturday, December 14th at 2pm. Thirty-seven children and their families registered for this event and a great time was had by participants, staff and volunteers.
Participating children painted Christmas stocking. The children painted the palms of their hands green and pressed them to the stocking to create the “branches” of a Christmas tree and then painting decorations on their trees. Finally, the children painted their names on the cuffs of the stockings. Fabric paint was used to paint the stocking to ensure that they would last through potential washing and serve as a childhood keepsake for years to come.
Participating children and their families also had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Santa Claus. Thanks to a past Walmart Community grant the library had the equipment to print out the pictures on site so that they could be brought home.
Cupcakes and hot cocoa were served in the community room. All supplies and food were purchased through the sponsorship of the New Berlin Art Forum. “We are so lucky to be able to offer these programs to the community, thanks to our wonderful volunteers, staff and the sponsorship of the New Berlin Art Forum.” stated library director Michelle Priola. “We are currently designing two winter art classes, one for children and one for adults. These classes should be scheduled in the beginning of the new year.”
