Springfield Library Board Meeting

October 3, 2024

 

 

Meeting Called to Order by: Jonathan Miller at 7:06pm

 

Present: Cheryl Zamelis, Debra Miller, Susan Hargrove, Jack Reit Dennis Dorn, Barbara LaCorte, Melinda Supp

 

Approval of minutes by Barbara and Jack

 

Treasurers Report: Budget awaiting $30,000 from the Springfield Cherry Valley Central School district Treasures report approved by Barb and Dennis

 

Construction Grant: Redpoint will be notified by Jack and or Jonathan regarding the return of the deposit for the construction project due to changes in scope of the project. Further discussion around the construction grant is tabled currently due to the uncertainty of the final amount of funding by grant.

 

Upcoming Events:

Barbara will be giving a presentation on her trip to Africa

2nd Tuesday of the month Office of The Aging present different topics

 

Barbara has spoken with Fenimore House about presentation about Caldecott Medal winners

 

Barbara has spoken with Fenimore House regarding the provision of passes for the museum at the library.

 

Home schooling community: Barbara and Melinda will explore possible open house for home schooling families to highlight what the library has to offer home schooling families.

 

Fundraising ideas were presented, book sale, community yard sale, community bird house silent auction, Brooks BBQ Fund raising on hold as matching funds may not be needed for construction grant.

 

 

Baby Bundles: Cheryl and Martha collected books to be given out as part of a baby bundle given

out to new babies in the community. To include a book, information about the library along with another small item to be included in the gift bag.

 

 

 

 

 

Website to include asking community to identify any new babies born in the community and let Melinda know. Martha will hold items and make bundles as needed.

 

Charter: Further updates pending awaiting information from Four County.

 

New Business: continue looking for new board members. Someone from the home-schooling community as a board member would be helpful in connecting with this community.

 

2025 Budget Debra and Melinda will work on budget together.

 

Annual Review of Library Director: Evaluation will be created by Barbara and Martha
