Nathan Taylor Yorker Museum
The Yorkers were junior members of the New York State Historical Association. The local chapter named after the first settler in South New Berlin, Nathan Taylor, was organized in 1947 with Grace Johnson as sponsor.
Their main interest was the study of local and state history. Many community activities were planned and executed. The most noteworthy project was the establishment of a museum in 1960 in rooms over the South New Berlin Free Library. This entailed much work as the six rooms were renovated by plastering, painting, and papering and building shelves.
Many local crafts, old photographs, books, scrapbooks, and local artifacts fill the museum.
In 1983 the Yorker Museum was turned over to the library as there was no longer a Yorker Club in the community.
In 1993 the Yorker Club was revived under the sponsorship of the Fortnightly Study Club and resumed the care of the Yorker Museum.
The Yorker Museum is now under the care of the South New Berlin Free Library once again and is being meticulously cared for by the librarians.
The Museum is still located upstairs in the library and open the same hours as the library.
