2017 September – October

We’re going to try something a little different for our library: Posting the Newsletter online, both on Facebook and on our website. Hopefully you will like and pass it on to anyone who might be interested in reading our updates and info.

Great Attendance!

Our 2017 Summer Reading Program averaged 9 readers per day. Some days, we had as many as 14! Miss Michelle and Miss Nancy kept our readers occupied with books and games, all to learn to appreciate reading. They even painted some rocks that are making their way around the county as part of Chenango County Rocks!

Great Fun!

Dan, the Snakeman and his animals couldn’t scare away 23 kids and adults. His show was fun, informative, and did we say fun? Even the Director’s husband, Jim, put aside his fear and held some snakes. Pictures? Check our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/southnewberlin.library/

Great Movie!

The library presented Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, and there were tee hees and giggles as we watched Greg and the Heffley family create mayhem with their differing ideas of family fun. (And the kids still want to know how they got boat out of the pool.)

Next Great Movie!

Our next Free Family Movie Night will be October 20, 2017. And to help get into the spirit we will be showing Goosebumps (2015), rated PG. Starring Jack Black as R. L. Stine, the author of the Goosebumps series, there is mayhem when the monsters are “unintentionally unleash[ed] . . . from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town.” (IMDB, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1051904/)

Many Thanks!

To Peter Fiduccia, for several of his books about hunting strategies. Mr. Fiduccia is our local author and celebrity who has been lecturing, writing and producing for over 30 years. To Sandy Kilmer and John & Anne Witkowski for donating prizes for our Summer Reading Program.

To the family of Miss Alexa Marsters and to former board member, Jayne Frye, for donating some wonderful books to our collection.

To our anonymous donors who gave us several books over the past few weeks.

All totaled, we’ve received about 30 books!

Congratulations times 2!

When you see our librarian, Michelle, wish her all the best. She got married!

And if you haven’t heard, our librarian, Nancy, is a grandmother again!

Congratulations and Welcome to the new Board of Trustees!

The Snakeman was Here!

Friday night, August 11, 2017. Evening. He moved the container, and we heard it.

A rattle! Not a child’s rattle. It was the sound of a Rattlesnake!  Yup. Dan, the Snakeman visited the library and brought his wonderful creatures. Snakes, tortoises, a gekko. It was fun, informative and thrilling! Thank you, Dan.
