Thank You, Community of Smyrna!

Thanks to all who were able to turn out for our 75th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, November 17th. The library was filled with people, and a good time was had by all. One of the highlights of the event was the cake, made by the Buttercup Bakery in Bouckville, NY. It was shaped like a book, and the details were incredible: pages, a spine label, and even a candy bookmark! It was delicious to eat, too!

Introducing Billy Bookworm

We have a new friend at the Smyrna Public Library:  Billy Bookworm!  You will see him at the top of the wall near our entrance.  We will all help him grow by reading books.  We have paper circles in various colors for readers to write down the books they are currently reading or recently finished, and we will attach them to Billy.

You may see a picture of Billy Bookworm on our Facebook page:  facebook.com/SmyrnaLibrary.

Free Concert

On Saturday, November 17th, from 10:30 a.m. till noon, the Smyrna Public Library will hold a free concert to which the public is warmly invited.  The Blue Parsley Boys, a local, all-male a capella group, are returning in honor of our anniversary; their first concert here two years ago was extremely well received.  There will be an opening act by Library Director Clara Lantz, who will be accompanied on keyboard by the award-winning Dianne Adams McDowell; the style is Classic Country.  Clara’s husband is a member of the Blue Parsley Boys, and he will be joining her on a few of her songs.  Refreshments will be provided; it is rumored there will be cake.
