All are invited to attend a presentation on Monday, November 28, at noon, when a representative from the Chenango County Area Agency on Aging will provide information on applying for HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) as well as information on health insurance, including a Medicare savings program. Please do not prejudge your eligibility for these programs; income requirements will be explained.
The Smyrna Public Library will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, The library will be open on Friday and Saturday, November 25 and 26.
This is the first meeting of a group your librarian hopes you will want to join, if only to listen in. This is meant to be a fun time of reading aloud from plays which the group will choose. I have chosen for the launch “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”; if you have your own copy of the script, please bring it with you, but a few copies will be on hand. We will discuss how often we wish to meet.
We are starting a play-reading group! Our first meeting will be Thursday, November 17, at 7:00 p.m. We will be reading aloud from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by Jack Thorne, based on an original new story by J. K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne. If you have your own copy of the script, please bring it with you, but a few copies will be on hand at our library. Come join us—it’s going to be fun! All are welcome.

On Saturday, November 5th, at 10:30 a.m., Nigel Seddon will tell us how “Philately Will Get You Everywhere.” Philately is the collection and study of postage stamps. Mr. Seddon is the President of the Board of Trustees of the Smyrna Public Library and is a retired school teacher from the Sherburne-Earlville School District as well as a soccer coach. He will tell us how he got interested in postage stamps and show samples from his collection.
