A Reading from Banned Books

by

Clara Lantz, Librarian

Mrs. Lantz will read selections from books that have been challenged and removed from libraries in 2015, the newest list compiled by the American Library Association, as well as classics that have also been banned over the years.  Some examples:  The Holy Bible; Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; George Orwell’s 1984.  Selections will be carefully chosen to present to an audience of older teens and adults.  We will talk about how books are challenged and banned as we take a stand for intellectual freedom, a hallmark of public libraries in the United States
