The Smyrna Public Library will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.
We’re having a porch party Thursday night!
On Thursday, August 25, at 7:30 p.m., Dr. Peter Lombardi will be sharing with us “The 5 Secrets to Looking Younger and Feeling Great” on the porch in front of the library. Dr. Lombardi is a chiropractor with a practice in Oneida. Refreshments will be served–after all, it’s a party!
Dear Patrons, Fellow Smyrna Residents, and Donors:
We the Board of the Smyrna Public Library wish to express our appreciation for all you did to make our Ice Cream Social such a resounding success. We especially wish to recognize the contributions of the Smyrna Fire Department for the use of their facility.
Additionally, the event would not have gone so well without the array of baked goods from our wonderful citizens. Ice cream was donated by the Hood ice cream company and by local philanthropy Gilligan’s Island.
Thank you all and keep next year’s celebration in mind.
Proof that summer is coming to an end: The Smyrna Band will perform one last time on Monday, August 22, at the Smyrna Town Hall instead of on the bandstand above the library. The library will NOT be open that night. Further proof that summer is coming to an end: Saturday morning hours at the library will resume after Labor Day with September 10th being the first Saturday. Saturday hours are 10:00 a.m. till noon
Our 17th Annual Ice Cream Social to benefit the library will be held on Monday, August 15th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Smyrna Firehouse. In addition to ice cream, there will be a selection of homemade desserts, all for $2.00 per person. Come and enjoy!
Book Giveaway: Children in attendance will receive a ticket for a free book, available at the library during regular hours.
The bargains are even better: 10 cents per bag!
The participants in the Summer Reading Program were treated to a program at Rogers Environmental Education Center, led by Jenni Larchar.
