Megan Gray, a Sidney high school alumna and recent graduate of SUNY New Paltz, will display her senior thesis artwork in the Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room during the month of August. Megan’s exhibit is titled Geo Metric Schema which focuses on layering and patterns to create beautiful works of art.
We encourage you to stop in and view this exhibit anytime the library is open.
The first two movie screenings to go with our adult summer programming theme of science and science fiction are the movies Gravity and Ender’s Game. All movies are free to the public and are being shown in our air conditioned Smart Community Room. You will find the date, time, and trailer of these two movies below.
Thursday, July 10th at 6:30pm will be the first adult summer book club meeting, held in the Smart Community Room. The first topic is mad scientists, and readers are encouraged to read a book of their choice. A few ideas of mad scientist related books include:
During the month of June, the Smart Community Room will feature artwork by Scott and Brenda Wesley. Both artists, who are residents of Unadilla, work primarily in acrylic and mixed media. Stop in anytime the library is open to view their work.
Miles Ahead Jazz Quartet, a talented group of musicians from the Binghamton music scene, will be performing in the Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room on Sunday May 18th at 1:30pm. We are excited to be hosting them and hope you will join us!

Local crafters will be pleased with the May art exhibition in Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room. It features works by the Afton Piece Corps Quilters, a group of talented members who transformed imagery from books into quilts and wall hangings.
We invite the public to stop in anytime our library is open and enjoy the show.
During the Sidney School District‘s spring vacation, the Sidney Library will be hosting two movies in honor of Earth Day. Please join us for the following movies, both of which will be shown in the Smart Community Room:
Our featured exhibit in the Smart Community Room for the month of April is JoAnn Bertone Chmielowski. JoAnn’s nature photographs make use of reflections and unusual perspectives, and are paired with beautiful frames carved from local wood.
This exhibit is open for viewing any time our library is open. We encourage you to stop back and visit it!
In addition to the wonderful children’s programs already in place, there are two special events for kids this week.
Kids age 3-7 are invited to attend our Olympics Party, in celebration of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games. This Friday, February 21st from 10:30-11:30am in the Smart Community Room, we hope you will join us for reading, crafting, and game playing.
