The Delaware County Historical Association will have an exhibit on display in the Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room now through March 30th, 2016. The focus is on hand quilting from 1770 – 1916. All quilts were made in the local area. We hope you will stop by to see these beautiful items anytime the library is open.
The Sidney Library isn’t just for books. We also host several clubs that are open to anyone interested. All clubs meet in our Smart Community Room.
- Writers’ Group – 1st and 3rd Mondays at 6:30pm
- Quilting Group – 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, 1-3pm
- Book Club, hosted by the Library Friends – 3rd Tuesday at 11:30am
- Ancestry / Genealogy Club – 4th Wednesday at 6pm
Stop by and see what our clubs are all about!
Do you enjoy quilting? Would you like to connect with other area quilters? The Sidney Library’s quilting group will resume their biweekly meetings beginning in September. The group meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month in the community room. All are welcome to join beginning on Tuesday September 8th, 2015 from 1 – 4pm. Be sure to bring your sewing machine!
Are you interested in the stories behind the artwork? Join us on Saturday, January 10th at 1pm in the Smart Community Room as Jim Bryden speaks about his quilts. Mr. Bryden’s work is very intricate, with lots of beautiful patterns. Many samples of his work will be shown. Please join us for this free presentation!
Starting on December 20th, the work of Jim Bryden will be on display in the Smart Community Room. Mr. Bryden is a stonecutter from Sidney Center who also creates beautiful quilts. These quilts will be on display and we encourage you to view them whenever the Sidney Library is open.
Local crafters will be pleased with the May art exhibition in Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room. It features works by the Afton Piece Corps Quilters, a group of talented members who transformed imagery from books into quilts and wall hangings.
We invite the public to stop in anytime our library is open and enjoy the show.
