The featured artist for January and February is Amy Marron of Mount Upton, owner of Lifeworks Photos. Ms. Marron became interested in photography in high school and has been practicing since. Her passion is equestrian photography, and has been seen at many events on the Chensego Hunter Association circuit.
These photographs will be on display in our Smart Community Room anytime the library is open. Come take a look!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own chainmaille jewelry? Now is your chance. Nicole Hubbard will be teaching a workshop here at the Sidney Library on Saturday, January 16th 2016 from 10 – 11:30am. During this time, you will learn the basics of chainmaille and create your own box chain weave necklace.
This class has a fee of $8 to cover materials. You will need to bring two sets of jewelry pliers (description available at signup) or you can purchase them from the instructor.
Registration is required, either in person at the Sidney Library, or by calling 563-1200.

The musical performance Party of Two which was scheduled for Sunday February 8th will be rescheduled due to concerns about the winter storm coming our way.

Would you or your child enjoy watching a movie on the big screen for free? On Tuesday, December 30th at 1pm, we will be showing How to Train Your Dragon 2 in the Smart Community Room. It would be a nice chance to get out of the house for the afternoon and do something fun. We hope you will join us!

With school being closed on Monday, December 22nd, is your child looking for something fun to do? Join us at the Sidney Library at 2pm when kids will be able to create a homemade ornament for their own tree or to give as a gift.
Story and craft time will be hosted by both Sidney Center and Masonville branch libraries during the month of July. Preschool and school-age children are invited to join us at the following times:
- Sidney Center Branch Library – every Monday in July – 2:00-2:45pm
- Masonville Branch Library – every Monday in July – 3:30-4:15pm
On Wednesday, June 25th at 6:00pm, Kim MacRabie will present about Delaware and Chenango Wholeshare, an organization that offers local and organic food at reasonable prices by working with groups of members rather than individually. Ms. MacRabie will share information about Wholeshare and answer questions. We hope you will join us in the Smart Community Room for this informative talk.
Sidney Library’s Public Computing Center is offering a number of workshops during the month of June. A sample of topics include:
- Introduction to Windows 8
- How to Use Ancestry.com, Library Edition
- Documents and Folders (keeping your computer organized)
Open hours have also been established. During these times, patrons are welcome to stop by for one-on-one help, such as using their e-reader or help using a particular website. In addition, we have scanners and a Mac computer available for use.

Miles Ahead Jazz Quartet, a talented group of musicians from the Binghamton music scene, will be performing in the Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room on Sunday May 18th at 1:30pm. We are excited to be hosting them and hope you will join us!
