The Friends of the Libraries will host their monthly book club meeting on Tuesday, May 17th at 11:30am. All are welcome to attend. This month’s book is Zeitounby Dave Eggers. Copies of the book are usually available at our main desk.
Next week is National Library Week. As you know, libraries are amazing resources for those who want to read books, watch movies, or simply use the internet for free. However, many people do not have a library card. We ask that you encourage your friends to come visit us and get their own library card so they will have access to these great resources too.
As a thank you to our wonderful patrons, the Friends of the Libraries have purchased sturdy card holders (above). These will be given out during National Library Week. Supplies are limited.
The Friends of the Libraries will host their mini book sale, called books a la carte, from 10am – noon on Saturday March 19th, 2016 in the main section of the library. Stop by and see what they have to offer!
If you are counting down the days to our semiannual big book sale, the official dates are April 14, 15, and 16.
In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Sidney Library and its branches in Masonville and Sidney Center will be closed on Monday, January 18th, 2016. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday the 19th.
The Sidney Library is extremely excited to host award winning author Avi on Tuesday 5/12 at 6:30pm. Avi has written dozens of books for younger and middle grades including the well-known True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. He will be speaking here in our Smart Community Room.
Avi will entertain with readings of his work, discuss his writing life and how some of his characters came to be, and finish off with a book-signing. We will also have copies of several of his books available for sale for $5-$10, including his newest book Catch You Later, Traitor.
