Were you impressed by the cut paper artwork of Shannon Delany and would like to learn more about it? On Saturday Feb. 7th at 10am, Ms. Delany is hosting a workshop on the papercutting process. You can learn to make a beautiful cut paper heart or Celtic knot.
- This workshop has a materials fee of $10 which must be paid when you register.
- Participants must bring both manicure and standard scissors.

The Sidney Library staff have planned a fun afternoon of Halloween activities for kids on Friday, October 24th. We invite families to join us for one or more of the following events:

The Friends of the Libraries restart their monthly movie event this Sunday, September 28th at 1:30pm in the Smart Community Room. This month’s movie is Dead Poets’ Society featuring Robin Williams and is free and open to the public.

Miles Ahead Jazz Quartet, a talented group of musicians from the Binghamton music scene, will be performing in the Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room on Sunday May 18th at 1:30pm. We are excited to be hosting them and hope you will join us!

A game day, open to the community, will take place on Saturday March 29th at 11:45 am. It is described as an afternoon of games, puzzles, and light refreshments in a family-friendly atmosphere. Feel free to bring a board game you’d like to play or join in with others.
In December, the Sidney Library held an electronics recycling event. We recently received the results and wanted to share them with you. Through this event, we recycled:
- 63 computers (1295 lbs)
- 79 TVs (4116 lbs)
- 61 computer monitors (1659 lbs)
- 3040 lbs in other electronics
The total weight recycled was over 10,000 lbs! These items will be recycled properly, thanks to REACT. We are glad we could provide this service to the community and will be sure to let you know if we hold another event soon.
Local Beatles enthusiast Dave Hawley will be presenting his first of two Beatles-themed events at the Sidney Library this month, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the “British Invasion”. At 7:00pm on Wednesday February 5th in the Smart Community Room, Dave will show The Beatles: the First US Visit, a day-by-day look at the Beatles’ first tour in the USA. Beatles fans, you would not want to miss this opportunity to watch them on the big screen.
The newly formed Photography Club, organized by local photographer Thomas Hunter, will meet for the first time this Monday, February 3rd at 6:00pm in the Smart Community Room. If you have an interest in learning more about your camera, please come. This group is free to the public. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
Cornell Cooperative Extension has organized a workshop designed to help you get the most from your food budget. On January 9th, 16th, and 30th at 6:30pm, CCE will share tips on how to be more successful while grocery shopping and suggestions for healthy, inexpensive meals. There will also be food demonstrations, recipes, and physical activity ideas for participants.
