Kids are invited to join us as we celebrate the beginning of this summer’s reading program. On Saturday June 27th from 1-3pm, we will be on the lawn of the Sidney Library offering face painting, crafts, and giveaways. Kids can pick up their summer reading logs and information about our big plans for this summer. We will also have treats for you to enjoy, such as popsicles and Chobani yogurt. We hope to see you there!
In case of bad weather, the event will still take place, but we will move inside to the Smart Community Room.
We have a variety of library programs available for young children. Here are just a few:
- Music for Munchkins gives children ages 2-5 time to explore instruments, sing songs, and finish off with parachute play.
- Pre-K Tech gives young ones an educational experience with some of the technology in the library, including fun and educational apps and websites.
- Lego Time offers preschool through school age children a chance to play and create with Legos.
You can find complete program descriptions and dates on our Children & Teens page on the website.
Our big book sale is coming up this week. This is a three day sale featuring books, movies, magazines, and more at extremely low prices. Come join us in the Smart Community Room on the following dates:
- Thursday 4/23, 6:00 – 8:00pm
- Friday 4/24, 9:30am – 5:00pm

Thanks to the Friends of the Libraries for running this event.
If you enjoy attending one of our many children’s programs, or would like to start, please be aware of the recent changes that have been made. You can find all updated descriptions on the Children & Teens page of the library website, or pick up a copy of the kids’ calendar (with notes on the back) at our circulation desk.
A big thanks goes out to YOU – our patrons. You stopped in more than 50,000 times to the Sidney, Sidney Center, and Masonville libraries to borrow books, rent DVD’s, play with puppets, or attend one of our 497 different programs in 2014.
For a small town we are proud to offer a variety of children’s, young adult, and adult books – both fiction and non-fiction. Last year you borrowed over 93,000 books, and this year we hope there will be even more books circulated.
We love getting to know you and your families, and helping you save money by borrowing our library books and DVD’s for free.
