Thursday, July 10th at 6:30pm will be the first adult summer book club meeting, held in the Smart Community Room. The first topic is mad scientists, and readers are encouraged to read a book of their choice. A few ideas of mad scientist related books include:

National Preservation Week 4/27

Next week, April 27th – May 3rd, is National Preservation Week, which takes time to recognize the importance of libraries and other institutions when it comes to preserving books, manuscripts, films, maps, and artwork.

Last year, the Sidney Library and Sidney Historical Association collaborated to digitize the following local newspapers: The Sidney Record, The Sidney Enterprise, and the Tri-Town News. Click the graphic above to view the archives.

Spring Book Sale 4/10-4/12

The Friends of the Libraries are holding their big book sale April 10-12. This is held in the Smart Community Room and offers hardcover and softcover books, as well as CD’s, DVD’s, and magazines for sale.

The hours are as follows:

  • Thursday, April 10th: 6 – 8pm
  • Friday, April 11th: 9:30am – 5pm
  • Saturday, April 12th: 10am – 1pm

Children’s Programs This Week

In addition to our weekly children’s programs, we will have the following bi-weekly events this week:

  • PJ Story Time – Wed. March 5th at 6:30pm.
  • Music For Munchkins – Thurs. March 6th at 10:30am.

Also, Dr. Seuss‘s birthday is this week so we will be honoring him by reading The Cat in the Hat, one of his most popular stories. We hope you can join us!

The Friends of the Libraries are holding an A La Carte book sale tomorrow, January 25th, from 10am-12noon, in the main lobby of the Sidney Library. Come check out our selection of paperback and hardcovers for sale.

Writers’ Group

Are you interested in participating in a writers’ group? Members bring their writing (poetry, short stories, drafts of longer fiction and non-fiction they are working on) and share it with other members for feedback.

Harry Potter themed wreath for Tri-Town Boys & Girls Club Silent Auction

This captivating wreath decorated to depict the Harry Potter series was created by Sidney Library’s Alyssa Hardy and is part of a silent auction taking place now through December 7th at Sidney Federal Credit Union. Stop in to see the wreaths, choose your favorite, and place a silent bid in the box. The highest bidders will be notified the weekend of December 7th and proceeds will benefit the Tri-Town Boys & Girls Club.
