A big thanks goes out to YOU – our patrons. You stopped in more than 50,000 times to the Sidney, Sidney Center, and Masonville libraries to borrow books, rent DVD’s, play with puppets, or attend one of our 497 different programs in 2014.
For a small town we are proud to offer a variety of children’s, young adult, and adult books – both fiction and non-fiction. Last year you borrowed over 93,000 books, and this year we hope there will be even more books circulated.
We love getting to know you and your families, and helping you save money by borrowing our library books and DVD’s for free.

The Sidney Library is holding their big book sale this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 9-11 in the Smart Community Room. If you’re interested in buying books of any genre, CD’s, DVD’s, VHS tapes, or magazines, stop by! The times are:
- Thursday 6:00 – 8:00pm
- Friday 9:30am – 5:00pm
- Saturday 10:00am – 1:00pm

Thursday, July 10th at 6:30pm will be the first adult summer book club meeting, held in the Smart Community Room. The first topic is mad scientists, and readers are encouraged to read a book of their choice. A few ideas of mad scientist related books include:

Next week, April 27th – May 3rd, is National Preservation Week, which takes time to recognize the importance of libraries and other institutions when it comes to preserving books, manuscripts, films, maps, and artwork.
Last year, the Sidney Library and Sidney Historical Association collaborated to digitize the following local newspapers: The Sidney Record, The Sidney Enterprise, and the Tri-Town News. Click the graphic above to view the archives.
The Friends of the Libraries are holding their big book sale April 10-12. This is held in the Smart Community Room and offers hardcover and softcover books, as well as CD’s, DVD’s, and magazines for sale.
The hours are as follows:
- Thursday, April 10th: 6 – 8pm
- Friday, April 11th: 9:30am – 5pm
- Saturday, April 12th: 10am – 1pm
In addition to our weekly children’s programs, we will have the following bi-weekly events this week:
- PJ Story Time – Wed. March 5th at 6:30pm.
- Music For Munchkins – Thurs. March 6th at 10:30am.
Also, Dr. Seuss‘s birthday is this week so we will be honoring him by reading The Cat in the Hat, one of his most popular stories. We hope you can join us!

The Friends of the Libraries are holding an A La Carte book sale tomorrow, January 25th, from 10am-12noon, in the main lobby of the Sidney Library. Come check out our selection of paperback and hardcovers for sale.
Are you interested in participating in a writers’ group? Members bring their writing (poetry, short stories, drafts of longer fiction and non-fiction they are working on) and share it with other members for feedback.
