This Month’s Events
Lucinda VanVleck, photographer and Southern Tier Beekeepers’ Association secretary, will give a presentation about the craft of beekeeping. This event will take place on Saturday, March 1st at 11:00am in the Smart Community Room. Ms. VanVleck wil cover a variety of topics such as different types of beekeepers, the life cycle of bees, and the role bees play in our lives.
There is one more nutrition program event, which was rescheduled because of a snow day in February. Sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County, please join us for this final evening of healthy eating, grocery shopping, and exercise suggestions on Thursday, March 6th, 6:30 – 8:00pm.
Back to Basics Drawing Class (two parts)
Do you have an interest in drawing but want some help with basic techniques to get started? Join art teacher Alyssa Hardy for this two part program on Saturday, March 15th and Saturday, March 22, both from 11:00am – 2:00pm. The cost is $5 and snacks will be provided at break time.
- During the first session, Alyssa will break down drawing into its basic pieces and demonstrate techniques, then provide support while you practice.
- At the second session, come with a photograph you would like to draw. Alyssa will show you techniques for enlarging and drawing the photo with lots of detail and shading.
Adults and teens can register for this class in person, by calling the library, or online.
Create a Birthday Card Workshop
On Wednesday, March 26th from 6:30 – 8:00pm, join librarian Linda Shea for a demonstration of how to design several types of birthday cards before making your own. The materials fee is $5 and you will take home five handmade cards. Be sure to register in person, by calling the library, or online.
Ongoing Clubs - meet in the Smart Community Room
Join our new photography club being run by Thomas Hunter, a professional photographer from Sidney. The group will meet on Monday, March 3 at 6:00pm in the Smart Community Room to discuss common interests, how your camera functions, what settings to use for specific shots, etc. There is no fee, but be sure bring your camera.
The first meeting of this newly formed writers’ group will be held on Monday, March 31st at 6:30pm. If you are interested in networking with other writers, you are welcome to attend.
