Children & Teens
Special Programs This Month
Our Summer Reading Program kicks off on Saturday 6/27 from 1:00 – 3:00pm. Join us for a fun afternoon on the library lawn and enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, ice cream, Chobani yogurt, and giveaways. Kids can also pick up summer reading logs and information about our summer programs. If the weather is bad, we will bring the festivities inside to our Smart Community Room.
Summer Special Events – We have a lot of special programs for children this summer. There are movies being shown every Thursday at 1:30pm in the Smart Community Room. We also have family entertainment on Wednesday evenings. Click here to see a list of movies and evening family entertainment for the summer. You can also click here to download the 2015 Summer flier, which has a complete list of activities – a few examples are tie-dyeing your own t-shirt, a Skype session with an Iditarod dog sled racer, and making a life size board game.
Lego Time will offer preschool through school age children a chance to play and create with Legos every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Join Linda every Wednesday from 3 – 5pm through August 24, 2015 for some Lego fun. We will have Legos available for kids to enjoy while visiting the library!
Music for Munchkins will be at 10:30am on Tuesdays 7/7, 7/21, 8/4, and 8/18. If you are between the ages of 2-5 years old, come join Erin as she lets you explore instruments, sing songs and finish off with parachute play. It’s a good way for kids to express themselves and have some fun!
Pre-K Tech is a program for ages 2-5 at 10:30am on Tuesdays 7/14, 7/28, 8/11, and 8/25. This fun program is where young ones can get an educational experience with some of the technology in the library, including fun and educational apps and websites. This program meets in the PCC (our computer center, in the library’s basement).
Kids Club is for kids in grades K-6, who are interested in joining us for games, crafts, Minecraft, and more. New members are always welcome and we will meet every Tuesday from 3 – 5pm during the summer. This club meets in the PCC (our computer center, in the library’s basement).
Story Time Programs
Toddler Story Time is for those 15 months to about 3 years old. We sing songs, read books, and there is often a hands-on activity. It is on Thursdays from 9:30 – 10:00am (3/30/15 – This is a new change – it used to be Fridays). The stories are nice and short to hold their attention.
Preschool Story Time is on Tuesdays at 9:30am and Wednesdays at 1:30pm. We have a theme with our books, then make a craft project to tie it all together. Every session is different, so feel free to come to both. This story time is for children ages 3-5 who can sit and listen to stories and interact with each other.
Baby & Me is a story time program for babies 0-15 months, held every Thursday at 10:30am (3/30/15 – this is a new time). Join us for nursery rhymes, simple stories, songs, and more!
**ON HOLD UNTIL SEPTEMBER – Family Story Time is a new program offered every first Saturday of the month at 10am, unless otherwise stated. Erin will offer a Family Story Time for families who are busy during the week.
**ON HOLD UNTIL SEPTEMBER – PJ Story Time - join Linda for this fun evening program. If you can’t make it during our daytime story times, this is the perfect event for you. There is no craft at our evening story times. You can wear your jammies – Linda does!
*We do not have a sign up for these programs – just show up. All of our story times require the parent/caregiver to be present. Moms, dads, and other caregivers have enjoyed the experience and we encourage you to stop by.
