Next week, April 27th – May 3rd, is National Preservation Week, which takes time to recognize the importance of libraries and other institutions when it comes to preserving books, manuscripts, films, maps, and artwork.
Last year, the Sidney Library and Sidney Historical Association collaborated to digitize the following local newspapers: The Sidney Record, The Sidney Enterprise, and the Tri-Town News. Click the graphic above to view the archives.
In observation of Easter, the Sidney Library will be closed this Sunday, April 20th. We will resume normal hours on Monday.
In December, the Sidney Library held an electronics recycling event. We recently received the results and wanted to share them with you. Through this event, we recycled:
- 63 computers (1295 lbs)
- 79 TVs (4116 lbs)
- 61 computer monitors (1659 lbs)
- 3040 lbs in other electronics
The total weight recycled was over 10,000 lbs! These items will be recycled properly, thanks to REACT. We are glad we could provide this service to the community and will be sure to let you know if we hold another event soon.
If you haven’t stopped into the Sidney Library’s DVD room recently, please note that we have set up a table where you can pick up both Federal and NYS tax forms and instruction booklets.
In observance of Presidents’ Day, the Sidney Library will be closed on Monday, February 17th. We will open at our normal time on Tuesday.
Due to the weather, the Sidney Library will open at 11:00am. Drive safely and we will see you soon!

Due to the weather, the Sidney Memorial Public Library will be closed all day today (Wednesday, February 5th, 2014). Our Beatles program for tonight will be rescheduled, and we will see you all tomorrow when we open at 9am.
In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Sidney Memorial Public Library will be closed on Monday, January 20th. We will re-open Tuesday January 21st at 9:00am.
