Summer Library Activities for Adults

SONY DSC

Beginning in July, the Sidney Library will offer both a summer reading program and movie showings specifically for adults. We will keep you posted when more information is available.

Are you taking a road trip this summer? Stop in to the library and browse our extensive audiobook selection – there are audiobooks (books on CD) available for adult fiction and nonfiction, and YA (young adult) and children’s books too. They are great option for those who will be spending several hours traveling.

Sidney High School student Rosie Gatto recently completed her jungle themed mural in the children’s area of the Sidney Library. She worked over the year to paint this mural, which also helped her earn her Gold Award in Girl Scouts, the highest award available.

To recognize Ms. Gatto’s hard work and the completion of this project, we invite kids to join us at the Sidney Library at 4pm on Thursday June 5th for a celebration.

In December, the Sidney Library held an electronics recycling event. We recently received the results and wanted to share them with you. Through this event, we recycled:

  • 63 computers (1295 lbs)
  • 79 TVs (4116 lbs)
  • 61 computer monitors (1659 lbs)
  • 3040 lbs in other electronics

The total weight recycled was over 10,000 lbs! These items will be recycled properly, thanks to REACT. We are glad we could provide this service to the community and will be sure to let you know if we hold another event soon.
