Many people stop by our library website to see articles on the main page, but there is a lot of information here. A few of the pages that change regularly are in the menu at the top of the page:
- Kids / Teens – this shows a list of regular and special programs for kids, including story times.
- Programs – this shows upcoming programs and art exhibits for adults.
- Library Friends – this has information about movie showings, the monthly book club, and book sales sponsored by the Friends of the Libraries. All are welcome to events sponsored by the Friends.
On Thursday, April 28th at 1:00pm, we will be showing the movie Goosebumps here at the Sidney Library. You can watch this PG-rated movie on the big screen in our Smart Community Room. The movie is described as follows: a teenager teams up with the daughter of young adult horror author, R.L. Stine, after the writer’s imaginary demons are set free on the town of Madison, Delaware.

Come learn about the Eastern Bluebird and build your own bluebird box on Saturday, April 30th at 1:00pm. Mr. John Rogers, a bluebird specialist, will present a nature slideshow with a focus on the bluebird. After the slideshow, you will make a bluebird box to take home.
This workshop has a materials fee of $8 and registration is required. Please register online, in person at the library, or by calling us at 563-1200.
The BGS Jazz Express, a group of music students from Bainbridge-Guilford and Sidney schools, will perform at the Sidney Library on Sunday April 17th 2016 at 1:30pm. Directed by Sidney High School’s Mr. Gregg Norris, this show is a must-see. We hope you will join us in celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month!

The Friends of the Libraries host a monthly book discussion group – all are welcome! This month’s read is titled A Man Called Ove by Frederik Backman. We hope you will stop by for the meeting in our Smart Community Room on Thursday, April 28th 2016 at 1:00pm.

The Sidney Library has some part-time positions opening soon for high school students.
Students must be available to work evenings and weekends throughout the year at the Sidney Memorial Public Library in downtown Sidney.
If you are interested and will have completed 10th grade by July 1, 2016, please stop by the library and
complete a student application. The deadline for applications is April 29, 2016.
The much-anticipated library book sale is coming soon! Our spring sale will be held April 14 – 16, 2016 in the Smart Community Room. Come browse the wide variety of books, magazines, and other items that will be sold at very reasonable prices. The hours are:
- Thursday April 14th, 6:00 – 8:00pm
- Friday April 15th, 9:30am – 5:00pm
- Saturday April 16th, 10:00am – 1:00pm

Next week is National Library Week. As you know, libraries are amazing resources for those who want to read books, watch movies, or simply use the internet for free. However, many people do not have a library card. We ask that you encourage your friends to come visit us and get their own library card so they will have access to these great resources too.
As a thank you to our wonderful patrons, the Friends of the Libraries have purchased sturdy card holders (above). These will be given out during National Library Week. Supplies are limited.
Families are invited to a fun activity on Wednesday, April 6th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in our Smart Community Room.
Why wait ’til Spring Break? Put on your flip-flops, grab your sunglasses, and come to the library for some beach-time fun! We will have story time with some beach-themed books. Then kids will have time to make sand art, dig for buried treasure, and do a craft activity.
Don’t forget to bring a towel to sit on!
We will be showing the movie The Rewrite on the big screen soon. The Friends of the Libraries is sponsoring this free movie showing on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 at 1:30pm in our Smart Community Room.
