Kids Program – The Dirtmeister 7/24

In recognition of this year’s theme of “Fizz, Boom, Read!”, we are pleased to present Soda Bottle Science – A Delightful Deluge of Dirt Cheap Science Experiments That Go Fizz, Boom and Pop! by winning author and science celebrity Steve “The Dirtmeister” Tomecek.  Steve will be at the Sidney Library on Wednesday, July 23rd at 10:00 am. During the program, Steve will explore over a dozen different science experiments that kids can safely do at home using soda bottles, coffee cans, sandwich bags and other household items. This event is free and open to the public. Following the program, Steve will be available to meet and greet the audience and will also be available to autograph copies of some of his awesome books including his Scholastic books, Soda Bottle Science, Coffee Can Science, and Sandwich Bag Science.

Nonfiction Science Book Club 7/24

Thursday, July 24th at 6:30pm will be the second installment of our adult summer book club meeting, held in the Smart Community Room. The next topic is nonfiction science, and readers are encouraged to read a book of their choice. A few ideas of nonfiction science related books include:

Kids Program – Dan Chase & His Reptiles 7/16

On Wednesday, July 16th at 6:30pm, Dan the Snakeman will be doing a program at the Sidney Library. This program, which is free and open to families, will be a time for Dan to share information about his reptiles and children will also be able to touch some of the animals. We hope you can join us!

Featured Artist for July – Heather Mowris

Heather Mowris is the featured artist in the Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room for the month of July. Her work covers many media, including pencil, colored pencil, mosaic, and acrylic painting. We encourage you to stop by and visit the exhibit any time our library is open.

Kids Program with Barb Field 7/9

Families are invited to join us for a free program at the Sidney Library on Wednesday July 9th at 6:30pm Barb Field and her character Professor Womboggle join us for the program Fizz, Boom, Read! Professor Womboggle is a goofy science professor with a trunk full of wacky and hilariously funny experiments.  She will amaze and entertain you with science principles relating to everyday life with hands on experiments.

Photography Club Update

Rather than having a formal meeting, photography club will meet in the library parking lot this July & August, on the second Sunday of each month at 9:30am, to photograph on location with the support of experienced members when needed. New members are always welcome.
