What types of programs would you like to see presented at our library? Pick up one of our survey sheets at the Sidney Library, fill it out and return it with your thoughts and ideas for programs. You can also select your preference of a day and time for programs.
In the past we’ve had lectures from experts, musical performances, arts and crafts workshops, and more. We would love to hear what you want to see next!

Don’t Forget – Delaware County Poorhouse Lecture 5/13

Don’t forget about tomorrow’s Down and Out at the Delaware County Poorhouse presentation by County Historian Gabriella Pierce. We hope you will join us on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00pm in the Smart Community Room, to learn about the history of this fascinating place located near Delhi, NY.

Get Caught Reading!

Get Caught Reading is a nationwide campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read. Since May is Get Caught Reading Month, we encourage you to bring in a photo for our Get Caught Reading board in the Sidney Library. Take a picture of someone you know reading: grandparents or parents reading to kids, kids reading, someone reading to their pet, etc. Anyone reading can be added to the board.
If you would prefer, you can DM (direct message) us a picture on our Facebook page. Be sure to include the first name and last initial we should include as a caption for the photo. All photos sent through direct messaging will be considered, and we will pick some of our favorites to share throughout the month on our page.

Florida Birds Presentation 5/10

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 10th, 6:30pm when photographer / birder Rick Bunting will present Florida Favorites. Mr. Bunting will share his colorful images and fun facts about southern bird species. Having recently returned from Florida, Mr. Bunting has a fresh supply of material and photos of his favorite feathered friends.

Delaware County Poorhouse Presentation 5/13

Down and Out at the Delaware County Poorhouse, an illustrated talk by County Historian Gabriella Pierce, which was originally scheduled for April, will be presented on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00pm.

The poorhouse was located on Arbor Hill Road near Delhi and was home to poor, homeless, and indigent families and adults from all over the county. The presentation will include photographs and interviews with those who lived and grew up at the Home. We hope you will join us!

Seed Swap 2017

The Sidney Library is excited to be part of the county-wide Seed Swap program again this year. Look for the small wooden card catalog near our main desk.

We have a small variety of seeds to start off the program. Bring in your old seeds (from 2016) or leftovers from this spring’s planting. Flower, herb, and vegetable seeds are all welcome.

This program will run through the end of May. See what’s here, and help yourself to a few seeds for your own garden.
