New Berlin Library Board Meeting Minutes- Organizational Meeting

December 30, 2025

Present:

George Anderson, President

Darla Smith, Vice President

Abigail Magrath, Secretary

Donna Wells, Treasurer

Jill Robinson, Trustee

Also Present:

Michelle Priola, Director

George Anderson called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm.

Treasurer, Donna Wells, expressed interest in having all board members be approved to be check signers for the library. Currently Abigail Magrath and Jill Robinson are the only board members not approved to sign checks. Donna Wells made a motion to have the following board members approved to sign checks: George Anderson, Darla Smith, Abigail Magrath, Donna Wells, and Jill Robinson. Darla Smith seconded the motion. Motion passes 5-0.

All board members will go into NBT Bank in New Berlin between 1/2/26 and 1/7/26, with a copy of the minutes and their license, to sign off on the paperwork.

Donna Wells updated the board on the new bookkeeper status. Currently, Paul Rowe is not able to access the back up copy on Quick Books. Donna will need to make an accountant’s copy for Paul to use. The issue stems from Paul having an accountant account and the library having a non-profit account. Donna will look into fixing this. 

Jill Robinson made a motion to approve the 2026 budget. George Anderson seconded it. Motion passes 5-0.

Darla Smith made a motion to approve the 2026 payroll. Abigail Magrath seconded it. Motion passes 5-0.

Jill Robinson made a motion to approve the November minutes. George Anderson seconded it. Motion passes 5-0.

Sexual Harassment Training is scheduled to take place during our January 2026 board meeting. Members may take the class ahead of time and print out their completion certificate or email a photo of it to Michelle to print.

Michelle gave the board the list of closure dates for 2026:

Jan. 1 & 19

Feb. 16

May 25

June 19

July 3-4

Sept. 7

Oct. 12

Nov. 11, 26-28

Dec. 24-26

Dec. 31- Jan. 1

The votes for the election were tallied. George Anderson received 19 votes. Darla Smith received 1 vote.

Jill Robinson made a motion to keep the following board positions as is: George Anderson- president, Darla Smith- vice president, Donna Wells- treasurer, Abigail Magrath- secretary. Darla Smith seconded the motion. Motion passes 5-0.

At 6:33, Jill Robinson made a motion to close the meeting. Darla Smith seconded it. Motion passes 5-0.
