On Sunday, October 21 at 3:00 pm at 22 Main St., the Friends of the Village Library Sunday Series continues with “Designing your Health Care Future,” by Michael Jastremski, MD, FCCM, and Connie Jastremski, MS, MBA, RN, ANP-CS, FCCM.
This event is free and open to the public.
Connie Jastremski graduated from nursing school in 1969 and retired as Chief Nursing Officer from Bassett in 2014. After retiring from the CNO role, she worked as a Nurse Practitioner on the Pain and Palliative Care Service at Bassett. She is currently Chairperson of the Board of Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Chairperson of the Board of Valley Health Services/Valley Residential Services, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Southwestern Vermont Health Center in Bennington, Vermont.
Michael Jastremski is a retired physician whose specialties are critical care and emergency medicine. He is a graduate of Cooperstown Central School (class of 1964), Hartwick College, and Upstate Medical University. Retiring as medical director of Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton in 2016, Dr. Jastremski continues to volunteer at a free clinic in South Carolina in the winter months.
In his own words, Dr. Jastremski writes, “In my career, I have helped many patients and families determine how they or their loved one will live out their remaining time. It is easier for everyone, especially when the patient can no longer make their wishes known, when there have been advanced conversations about end-of-life care. I hope by sharing my professional and personal experiences you will decide to make your families and doctors aware of your wishes, so that they will know your desires should they have to make end-of-life decisions for you.”
