FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) applications open on October 1st! Join us for a presentation where we will review what the FASFA is, what families can do before filling out the FAFSA forms, eligibility requirements for students and parents, as well as information needed to complete the FAFSA forms. We will also be discussing what happens while you are filling out the FAFSA, and some help tools and resources that you can use. Leave our FAFSA workshop feeling confident on completely the FAFSA correctly and promptly! Presented by Visions FCU.

Crochet for Charity @ Oxford Memorial Library

Oxford Memorial Library is hosting a Crochet for Charity event. We will be making TwiddleMuffs to donate to local nursing homes and care facilities for people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. If you can knit or crochet, then you are ready for this program. Yarn and other supplies will be available, but feel free to bring your own hooks, needles, or yarn if you want. TwiddleMuffs are sensory handwarmers used to help keep your hands busy when anxious picking or fidgeting can be an issue. Patterns will be available at the event, and you can find them ahead of time on our website, www.oxfordmemoriallibrary.org . If you aren’t able to finish a TwiddleMuff the day of the event they can be returned to the library the following week (10/23-10/28).

Recognizing fact from fake information is becoming more difficult and more important, and this course will present tools which will equip us with necessary skills to effectively navigate the digital world and help us become more digitally literate.

Need to de-stress? Miss the fun freedom of coloring as a child? Want to do something creative? If any of these apply to you then we think you would love our Adult Coloring Night at the Oxford Memorial Library!

Studies have found that coloring reduces anxiety, reduces stress, improves brain function, and more! Coloring is also a lot of fun and shouldn’t be just for kids. Come to the Oxford Memorial Library on Wednesday evening May 15th at 5:30pm to relax and have some fun. We will provide coloring sheets, colored pencils, markers, crayons, and light refreshments. If you have an adult coloring book at home or a favorite set of markers feel free to bring them! This is an adult program for ages 16 and older.

Disaster Preparedness Training @ Oxford Memorial Library

With severe weather events becoming more frequent and more extreme, it is more important than ever that New Yorkers are prepared for disasters. The NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. The training course will provide an introduction to responding to a natural or man-made disaster. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies.
