Preschool Storytime is for children ages 3-5 and their caregiver. Come hear stories, sing songs, and make a craft to take home. This storytime lasts approximately 45 minutes. No registration required.

Children ages 2-5 can come have fun playing and exploring educational iPad apps just for preschoolers. This program is held in the Public Computing Center on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month. No registration is required.

Mahjong Meet-Up @ William B Ogden Library

Play the ancient game of Mahjong with other enthusiasts.  Beginners through experts are welcomed. Some tables play for pennies and nickels. Most players bring a lunch or snacks.  Coffee and tea available.

Kids Club @ Sidney Memorial Public Library

Kids can join us after school every Tuesday 3:00-5:00 in our Public Computing Center for Kids Club. Get gaming with Minecraft, Roblox, Nintendo Wii, iPad apps, and board games. Kids can also try out our Dash & Dot robots, interactive Osmo’s, do a puzzle, or make a craft. No registration is required.

Wednesday, June 26th, 3:00 pm: Chasing the Moon (a movie!)

Help us launch our summer reading program, A Universe of Stories, with a screening of a 40 minute clip from the upcoming American Experience film, Chasing the Moon. We are excited to share part of the not-yet-released PBS 6 hour documentary series about the space race, from its earliest beginnings to the monumental achieve-ment of the first lunar landing in 1969 and beyond. Chasing the Moon will premiere on July 8th on PBS stations across the country. Kick off the summer with us by celebrating 50 years since ‘One Giant Leap” with a movie and popcorn!

David Covell will read from his picture book, RUN WILD, an exquisite reminder of how wonderful life can be beyond doors and screens. David wrote and created parts of this book right here in Delaware County. Run Wild was awarded a Best Illustrated Book of 2018 by The New York Times and The New York Public Library.  Come hear a story, make some art, and HOWL!

Friday, June 28th, 10:30 am: Go for a hike on My Side of the Mountain! People of all ages are invited to join us for a community ‘literary’ hike on the trails outside of Delhi named for characters from the 1960 Newbery Honor book, My Side of the Mountain, (fictitiously set in Delhi). Local actors will perform scenes and read passages from the book as we hike by. Meet at the trail head in the Lutheran Church parking lot on Andes Rd. Bring water, bug spray, etc.

Jean Craighead George’s 100th Birthday Party @ Cannon Free Library

Tuesday, July 2nd, 10:30 am: A Celebration for Jean Craighead George and My Side of the MountainA special story time as we unveil our ‘literary landmark’ plaque (a preview of the evening’s event). We are celebrating 60 years since the publication of My Side of the Mountain, and what would have been Jean Craighead George’s 100th birthday. Hear one of George’s picture books read aloud, eat cupcakes, and create a collage with objects found in nature. Evening reception at 6pm.
