Construction Aid Workshop

The guidelines, timeline, and procedures for the NYS Construction Aid Program have changed.

Join us on Friday, June 5  from 2 PM -3 PM via GoToMeeting to learn all about it. 

We’ll discuss:

  • Revised Guidelines
  • Eligibility requirements
  • Application components
  • Timelines
  • Reporting requirements

The workshop will also include a demo of the online application portal.

The workshop is free, but registration is required.

POSTPONED – Copyright for Librarians

Attorney Stephanie Adams will present on issues related to Copyright Law and public libraries. 

  • What is Fair Use? 
  • How closely should libraries oversee patron use of the copier? 
  • Are libraries responsible for what patrons do on public computers?  

These questions and more will be examined. 

The program is free of charge, but registration is required.

Stephanie Adams has a lot of experience working with libraries and non-profits in upstate New York on various areas such as intellectual property, contract, business, not-for-profit, education, construction, and communications with a basis of constitutional and municipal law. (See more)

Join us for a system-wide conversation.  We’ll discuss the current state of affairs and some of the options for going forward.

Library Trustee Orientation

Join 4CLS Director Steve Bachman on Saturday, February 29 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sidney Memorial Public Library for a basic overview of public library structure & governance in New York State and the roles & responsibilities of library trustees.

The program is free to attend, but registration is required.

Annual Report Workshop

Join us Monday, January 27 for a hands-on workshop on the NYS Annual Report. We will walk you through Section 2 – Collection, Section 4 – Circulation, and a few other key areas.

The program starts at 10 AM and ends at noon. It will be held at Moore Memorial Library in Greene.

Day of Learning 2019 – Community Based Strategic Planning

The minimum standards require that public libraries have a “community-based, board approved, written long range plan of service developed by the board of trustees and staff”

A well-developed long range strategic plan can help keep the library in tune with the community and positioned for success.
