Member libraries have two options for borrowing materials that are not in the 4CLS shared database.

When materials cannot be borrowed otherwise, BARC (Bibliographic and Referral Center) is a last resort service of the SCRLC (South Central Regional Library Council) currently administered by Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3).

Create an Account
To utilize the program you must first create an account with Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3). There are two ways to create an account:
- Fill out this online form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/tc3barc, OR
- Send an e-mail to tc3library@tc3.edu with the following information:
- Library Name
- Mailing Address
- Phone Number
- E-Mail Address
- Contact Name
- OCLC Symbol (if known)
When your account is created, your library will be issued a username and password
Requesting Items
To request material through BARC, follow these steps:
- Search for the item in the TC3 catalog
- If the item is not found, try the other options under ‘Change Libraries’
- Quick Delivery Libraries (most of the SUNY libraries)
- Worldwide Libraries (OCLC’s WorldCat)
- When the item is found, click ‘Get It’
- Log in with your username & password
- Click Submit Request
- If the item is not found, try the other options under ‘Change Libraries’
The item will be mailed to your library along with a return shipping label.
Mail it back to the TC3 library to return it.
